Every year, millions of unwanted animals are brought to shelters where they await redemption.  Many times, this does not happen.  The animal is left and it is up to the shelter and rescues to help the animal find a new home.
This is not easy.
First, the animal is brought to the shelter.  There, it remains under the shelter's care for a few days.  This allows the family time to locate their lost pet.  If this does not happen, many shelters reach out to rescues.

Some rescues specialize in certain breeds, many specialise in size, and some specialise in any and all!  Rescues usually rely on donations and volunteers in order for their group to work.  Fosters make up a huge part in the animal's life.  The foster is where the animal stays until a new home can be found.
